Description:
Evergreen trees, up to 30 meters in the country of origin; bark light brown or gray, thin scaly cracking; branchlets stout, with diaphragm pith; branchlets, buds, leaves below, petioles are densely brown or gray-brown short villi (saplings leaves glabrous below). Leaves thickly leathery, oval, oblong-elliptic or obovate-elliptic, 10-20 cm wide, 4-7 (10) cm, apex obtuse or short blunt tip, base wedge-shaped, dark green leaves, shiny; lateral veins 8-10 on each side; petiole 1.5-4 cm long, no stipule scar, a deep groove. Flowers white, fragrant, diameter of 15-20 cm; tepals 9-12, thick fleshy, obovate, 6-10 cm long, 5-7 cm wide; stamens ca. 2 cm, flattened filaments purple, anthers introverted, connective extended into short sharp; gynoecium oval shape, densely covered with long hair; carpels ovate, 1-1.5 cm long, curly shaped style. Aggregate fruit cylindrical oblong or oval, 7-10 cm long, 4-5 cm in diameter, densely brown or grayish yellow hair; follicles back split, round the back, the top of the outside with long beak; seed near egg round or oval, about 14 mm, diameter of about 6 mm, testa red, remove the seed testa, to extend short-necked top. Flowering from May to June, the fruit from September to October.
