Description: avocados or "paltas" are of Central American origin, possibly Guatemala and southern Mexico. The HASS avocado (produced first in California) has a thick, bumpy skin. They are easily peeled and are dark green to blackish when ripe. The pulp is creamy, light green coloured, and not stringy. When ripe they can weigh between 200 and 300 gr.
