The Plougastel strawberry owes its history to Captain Frézier, whose name could not have been better predestined. In 1740, he brought a variety of strawberry plants back from Chile that found the mild Britain Peninsula climate an ideal region within which to reproduce. In the 19th century, it became a highly reputed crop and even though the volumes cultivated are not what they used to be, has remained so until today.
After many trials, we have selected three varieties: Bogota, Elsanta and Gorella. These slightly acid flavour and low water content, ideal qualities for processing.
Through excellent co-operation with local producers, we produce a true locally crafted jam.
