Among the great variety of Chinese teas available, Puerh stands out in terms of its medicinal, historical and cultural importance. Its medicinal value can be traced back more than 5,000 years ago in Chinese history. Technically classified not as black but dark Black tea, Puerh is China's mystery tea. Puerh Tea is produced from large leaf variety tea leaves harvested in southwestern Chinas Yunnan Province. It took its name from an old tea market town called Puerh, a district of southern Yunnan, only a few hundred miles from the border of Laos and Burma, from which the tea caravans set out on long journeys upon the Ancient horse and Tea Trails.
