The altitude and latitude of the crops means that
strawberries in Piedmont, accounting for 5% of total Italian production, arrive late on the market. Strawberries contain more vitamin C than any other fruit, 50 mg for every 100 g of edible part. Together with Citrus fruits, this makes the strawberry an important source of this element for our organism. Vitamin C is useful against viral and infectious diseases and wounds, traumas or hemorrhages caused by surgical operations. Bear in mind that strawberries are available at a time of year when the market no longer offers citrus fruits and therefore represent a valid alternative. Because of their low sodium end energy content (only 30 calories per 100 g of edible part), high water content (90%) and the presence of fibre (pectin), they are also excellent as part of a diet.
