Mersin 5th International Food, Food Technologies and Packaging Fair will be held on 14-17 April 2011 together with the cooperation of Mersin Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Forza Fairs and Organization Co. Inc.

Mersin as a city, located in Mediterranean cost of Turkey and with’s 1600 hectare agricultural lands. Mersin is Turkey’s agricultural warehouse. Mersin economy has several developing areas such as business trade, industry, logistic, university and tourism. International and the biggest harbor in Turkey, is located in Mersin. Mersin is main gate from East Mediterranean to world for Middle East especially Iraq, Syria, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Iran. Mersin is also the main entrance of foremost regional improvement project, Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP). It is an integrated project, which goes beyond physical investments in many diverse fields includes agricultural development.
With highway, airways, sea route and railways, people will easily access to Mersin. This easement of access is very important for commercial transportation. The city is in the center of wide area which is from North Africa to Europe and from Russia to Middle East.
All of these advantages are positively effect this region’s exportations. It gives same benefits for foreign investors. Therefore, Mersin is the best choice for international agricultural exhibitions in Turkey.
90% OF PULSE EXPORTS OF TURKEY IS MADE FROM MERSIN
70% of the industry for pulse processing is established in Mersin. The rest mostly supply the goods for processing from Mersin. And Turkey exports 90% of pulses from Mersin.
Exporters, who know world pulse market well, use Mersin as a production and trading center. Mersin has critically importance in international pulse markets and organizations. In World Pulse Association, Turkey is represented by pulse producers from Mersin.

In spite of the negative effects of the global crisis, Mersin 4th Food, Food Technologies and Packaging Fair in 2010 has 179 exhibitors in 6,000 sqm area. 39 foreign companies were represented by international branch offices. In total, previous exhibition visited by 25,550 visitors. The number of international professional visitors is 150 from 11 countries and 18,850 national professional visitors from 22 cities from Turkey.
