Also at Hoogland, near the small town of Ceres in the Western Cape, is where Karsten Farms grows and produces various apple varieties. Stretching over 99+ hectares of land, are orchards of apple trees bearing the varieties; Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Reds and Bi-Coloureds. The crisp mountain air and cool temperatures are ideal for the growth of Reds and Bi-Coloured apples, in particular. The abundance of water on Hoogland - two dams and ten bore holes is a promising sign for greater yields in future.
