In Piedmont,
apricots are concentrated in a limited number of particularly suitable hill areas - the Saluzzese, the Roero Albese, the Valli Alessandrine and the Collina Torinese. Among the varieties cultivated, of particular interest is the "Tonda di Costigliole", a traditional local variety whose excellent flavour and aroma have won over both consumers and the processing industry. Rich with proteins, sugars, calcium, iron, phosphorus and above all vitamins, apricots have a very high nutritional value. Apricots contain more Vitamin A than any other fruit. They are rich in potassium, nourishing and high in energy, help combat anaemia and are extremely effective in physical conditions brought about by hemorrhage, nervous depression, general fatigue and all states of debilitation.
