Aspartame is a low-calorie, intensive Sweetener, which was discovered by accident in 1965, and is produced from two essential amino acids, L-Aspartic acid and L-Phenylalanine.

Aspartame is used in the manufacture of many sugar-free, low calorie and dietary products, such as

Beverages: carbonated and still soft drinks, fruit-juices and fruit syrups.

Table-top: compressed sweeteners, powdered sweeteners (spoon-for-spoon), sweetener sachets and liquid table-top sweeteners.

Dry mixes: hot and cold chocolate and beverage mixes and instant desserts.

Dairy: yoghurt, frozen novelties and desserts.

Confectionery: Chewing Gum, boiled sweets, pastilles, mints, chocolate, gums and jellies.

Pharmaceutical: tablets, sugar-free syrups, powdered mixes and effervescent tablets.

Shelf life:
Shelf life of 24 months if stored between 20°C to 27°C (70°F to 80°F);
Shelf life of 36 months if stored between 5°C to 20°C (40°F to 70°F).
