Aduki bean - more accurately known as Adzuki Bean or Azuki Bean in Japanese - is a very common food amongst the orients (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). The Korean name is pat (hangul: %), and in Vietnamese it is called u Ï. It is simply known as Red Bean (Hong-dou) in Chinese. The seeds are used primarily as a dry bean, for sprouts, whole, or ground into bean meal, but many cooks use them green. Since they have a sweeter taste than most beans, they are sometimes used in desserts.
