Quinoa raw Powder is obtained through organic processes. Seeds are subjected to selection, washing, disinfecting, extrusion, pulverized and packaging.

Origin and Distribution: It has been grown in the Bolivian, Ecuador and Peruvian Andes since 5000 years ago. This type of food, like potatoes was one of the main food in many Andean cultures.

 

Properties:

  • It is important to mention that Quinoa is a great source of Protein, higher than wheat and corn. Depending on the type of Quinoa, it may contain up to 23 % of this nutrient.
  • Unlike other seeds it is rich in Amino Acids such as Arginine, Lysine and Histidine ,
    both basic for growth development during Childhood. Also, it is a high source of
    methionine and cystine.
  • For those people who follow a vegetarian diet, Quinoa consumption is crucial as it provides a complete protein and do not need to be complete with any other food.
  • Fat Content in Quinoa varies too, it may reach up to 9 %, highlighting linoleic
    acid;it is a polyunsaturated acid which belongs to Omega 6 essential fatty acids. It is an important precursor of various cellular essential regulators for the proper
    functioning and stability of cell membranes of our body and develops nervous and hormone systems.
  • Quinoa is highly digestible, gluten – free, suitable for people who suffer from celiac diseases.
  • Its glycemic index is very low; it does not raise blood sugar levels after ingestion and is very suitable for people who suffer from diabetes.
  • Quinoa has minerals like iron, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus, and vitamins (C , E , B1 , B2 and niacin ) . It is also an excellent source of soluble and insoluble fiber

Composition

 

It  has  an  exceptional  balance  of  protein,  fat,  oil  and  starch.  The protein content is high since the embryo constitutes  a large part of the seed. The average grain protein is 16 %, but may contain up to 23 %, more than double of any other cereal.

Besides Quinoa proteins are close to the percentage  advocated  by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) for human condition. Quinoa proteins have a high degree of amino acids, lysine, methionine and cystine. Quinoa seed contains between 58 and 68% starch and 5 % sugars, although the starch grains are quite small, they contain about 20 % amylose, and gelatin are between 55 to 65 ° C. Fat content is from 4 to 9 %, half of which contains linoleic acid, essential to human diet. It contains high levels of Calcium and phosphorus.
