Our first Blonde bull came to Westlane about 20 years ago, leased to us by a neighbour for use on our commercial cows. We were very impressed and have never had another breed of bull on the farm since. While low in numbers across Canada, we believe in the excellent traits Blonde d'Aquitaine have to offer, including adding muscle, heavier weaning weights and the high cutability of the carcass. We have taken our animals on the show circuit, participated in Steer Trials, Bull Tests, and Bull Congresses in the past, but in the most recent years, due to more cattle numbers at home and calving time, have not been able to partake of these extras. We have had many show champions over the years, but again, have now concentrated on our cow/calf, and more recently, our feeder program here at home. Our main focus is to produce top quality bulls and heifers, with performance, conformation and temperament being our main objectives. We are always looking for the next window of opportunity and feel our association with Laura's Lean beef has enhanced our farming operation. We believe that when selling purebred animals, it is very important, not only to have a good sound animal, but also for the animal to have a good disposition, so we are able to walk freely in and amongst them, and maybe even scratch a few. This makes life a lot easier, and a pleasure to be around the cattle.
