The tradition of brewing liqueurs goes back to the beginnings of the Nobleman Polish Republic. Herbs, fruit (including wild fruit) and even flowers were used for the production of these liqueurs. Brewing and enjoying liqueurs constituted integral part of the customs in manor houses till the 20s. After world war II, the tradition of liqueur brewing started vanishing. Many of the old recipes, however, were preserved in Polish homes, where liqueurs are being brewed even now. Family recipes are strictly preserved and pass from generation to generation to trusted persons only. Some of the recipes are the result of many experiments, which have produced original compositions of taste. Tasting the noble, home-made liqueurs, and enjoying them was accompanied by certain ritual the taste, smell and even color relishing. Polmos Lublin S.A. has inherited the old polish tradition of liqueur brewing.
