BRIGIDINI, the thin sweet crumble anisette-flavoured wafers.
It was the beginning of the XIV century when a sister from Sweden started a long pilgrimage and stopped in Montalbano (a restorative and picturesque land in the core of Tuscany). There she founded the cluster (having the same name) of the Brigidine Order, and there they started cooking a delicacy in the shape of the Host, named “Brigidino”. The small town of Lamporecchio was able to keep unchanged through the centuries the memory of this sweet. Nowadays it still preserve, from generation to generation, the tradition of this crumbly wafer which, as time passed, became the symbol of a popular soul which keeps its origins firm.
