Retort pouch which also called as flexbile canned food packaging. It is labor reduction over canning, not some inherent feature of the pouch.Packed food can be retorted Sterilization at 110°C or 121°C for 25 to 30 minutes. To some cases, 131 degree C is applied. Retorted products can be standed in ambient condition, frozen is not need. Consumer friendly because it is ready to eat once the package is opened or reheat the whole packing for hot taking. Flexible packaging can be taken as the most effective way of cost saving because shipped weight can be highly reduced.

 

What laminated material should be used for retort pouches ? In general, it depend on your application, high barrier retort pouch need foil base, it made use of 4 ply such as PET/NY/AL/RCPP, RCPP is the retort grade of CPP, if transparent retort pouch required, 2 ply such as NY/RCPP is commonly used. Another expensive but user-friendly material is being very hot in the retort pouches application, it is Alox PET or SiOx PET coating film which replace foil barrier but offer the alternative high barrier layer for the pouch, user-friendly pouches thank to its transparent laminated material which the whole package food can be microwaveable.
