Super fine cut (SFC):
Sometimes also known as 'teabag' cut, purchased mainly in Europe & north America when the Rooibos is further processed & packed by high speed teabag packing machines. Short cut:
A slightly courser cut than SFC, also sold for certain packed tea products when blended with other herbs and/or fruit teas. Superior Long cut:
Top end of the quality chain, used and mainly sold as 'loose' tea but also an excellent base for blended (loose) fruit & herbal teas. Choice Grade:
Slightly courser cut size than the above-mentioned products and with a higher % stem content. In South Africa the 'choice' grade is often used for (tagless) teabag packing as it is believed that the combination % of stem & tea 'leaves' in this grade offers the best representation of the rooibos characteristics, taste and health benefits. Recycled Rooibos & Rooibos dust:
These are waste products, prepared according to customers specifications.
Rooibos bulk tea is produced, processed and packed for export in 20 kg paper bags, palletised and shipped in 6 meter (9 tons) and/or 12 meter (18 tons) containers around the world, direct from the estate to the customer after batch samples of the actual product purchased have been forwarded, tested and approved by the customer. Although minimum bulk orders are for 9 tons quantity orders for ?mixed? product containers totaling a minimum order weight of 9 tons are also accepted. All bulk rooibos destined for export is of Super Export Grade (SEG), but different product 'qualities' and/or 'cuts' are on offer, which together with the order destination, order volume & the financial exchange rate determine the price per kg on a C&F basis.
