Greek Cheeses are unique products made of fresh milk from local herds, with mouth watering tastes.
The most well known Greek cheese is Feta, a P.D.O. product. It is one of the best known foods abroad and is set to achieve even better results from January 1st, 2007 as according to a decree issued by the European Union the name Feta will only be allowed for product made in Greece, exclusively from sheep?s and goat?s milk using traditional methods in specified regions.
It has a creamy texture, a sharp taste and is ideal for use in salads, sandwiches, snacks or in cubes for sauces. Another P.D.O. Greek cheese is Manouri, a white creamy and buttery cheese with a smooth taste. As it is less salty than Feta it can also be used as a dessert, with honey or fruits.
