product details
Origin:

The chestnuts are a group of eight or nine species of deciduous trees and shrubs in the genus Castanea, in the beech family Fagaceae. They are native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The name also refers to the edible nuts they produce.

Whole chestnuts can be eaten raw, baked, boiled or roasted. Use a sharp knife orchestnut knife to peel and eat them raw, or score an X with the knife deep through the outer shell, then roast at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until the cut edges peel back.

The ideal storage conditions for chestnuts are 33-35 degrees Fahrenheit and 85-90% humidity. We recommend storing chestnuts in covered containers in the coldest part of the refrigerator. Stored properly in the refrigerator, chestnuts can have a shelf life of approximately 2-3 weeks.
