Star Gooseberry or 'Mayom' in Thai word is a recent Thai fruit that we use it as a raw material to make our soft candy. Its original taste is sour. (The another type of Star Goosebeery is a bit sweet). Due to its sour taste, the fruit is mainly used for cooking, although pickled fruit with sugar and Chilli is well known dish for Thais and is sold in local markets.
