1.The description of Chinese Goutou date :

 

Red date, also named as jujube or chinese date, is originated in China where it has been cultivated for more than 3 thousand years. Goutou jujube of Northern shaanxi, one kind of chinese dates, containing protein, fat, sugars, organic acids, vitamin A, vitamin C, amounts of calcium and so many nutrients,ranks first among other kinds of jujubes. 

The Goutou date is produced in Qingjian,located in northen Shaanxi which is known for the hometown of chinese red date. Northen Shaanxi is the famous territory of producing northen Shaanxi red date and can produce high quality dates for the wether is dry and rainless ,  drought, light a long time and large difference in temperature.

2.The old story of Goutou date :

Long long ago, after Emperor Gaozong of Tang, one of the emperor in Tang Dynasty, 

founded chang’an as capital city, he traveled around delightly.

It was just the time that spring was approaching, Emperor Gaozong had an outing with his servants. He stayed in a beautiful small town where the people were making a good living and were contented. Owing to he was quite excited, he drunk in a small tavern. At the moment, the daughter of the tavern boss came back, he was   fascinated by the young lady. The lady, slender and graceful, posted upstairs like a fairy maiden.  “ how beautiful the lady is ” he said. In order to get the love of the young lady, he had stayed here for a long time.

The young lady was not only beautiful, but proficient in misic, chess, writing and drawing. So the Emperor Gaozong fallen in love with the lady deeply and don’t want to go back to the royal palace. But, one day he received the news that his father passed away, and he had to go back. He said to her that he will come back and married her. However, he never came back.

The life in royal palace was full of suspicion and deception, and he was fed with it. He remembered the tender and versatile lady in the teired days,so he sent his servants to find the lady. He hearded that he and the lady had a daughter who is more beautiful than his mother. Sadly, the lady had been disappointed to Emperor Gaozong and didn’t want to go to royal palace. They just took their daughter back. Emperor Gaozong loved his daughter very much,while the little girl didin’t want to eat anything. The Emperor Gaozong rancked his mind about it, even the doctor of the royal palace didn’t know how to deal with it. Finally, the girl said she wanted to eat the date of her hometown. Then Emperor Gaozong sent his servants to get the date. He felt very curious and tasted the date. The date ,thin skin and thick flesh,tasted very sweet and delicious. Because it looked like the dog’s head, the emperor called it “Goutou date” .The word “Goutou” means “the head of dog”.
