Cocchi Americano means much more to Asti, than a simple wine made with and infusion of herbs and handpicked spices. It`s considered the aperitif per excellence by the citizens of Italy, it`s a taste of Asti’s wine and food history for the 1900`s.
It is based on an all-natural recipe containing white wine, sugar, alcohol-infused herbs and spices, especially Artemisia flowers, gentian roots and peels of bitter orange.
All the whole process elaboration is made without additives. Americano is made by spicing small batches of wine left to age one year minimum.
“It is called Americano (American) not only due to such new features but also because the habit of drinking Vermouths mixed with bitter spirits and gin – thus creating a drink called cocktail – was spreading from the United States.” This is why Americano has a Rooster on it’s label as a symbol of the first Cocktail.
