Chlorophyll is the name of the leaf pigment of the higher plants an green algae. It gives them
the green colour and enables the photosynthesis. You find the Chlorophyll in the chloroplasts
of the plants.
The Chlorophyll of the higher plants and green algae is not a single substance but consists of Chlorophyll a and b which can be seperated in two fractions by chromatography.
