Corn cob is one of the more popular medias used by reloaders to polish their brass before 

reloading. It is tough  enough to clean brass that has minor tarnishing yet soft enough not to

damage the casings. If the brass being  cleaned is heavily tarnished or has not been cleaned 

in years it would be best to use crushed walnut shell media as it is a harder, more aggressi

ve media that will remove the heavier tarnish better than corn cob media.

Application

 

1.Media for finishing, tumbling, and blasting.

2.Carrier for fertilizers, insecticides, and feed additives.

3.Absorbent for hazardous wastes, liquids, grease and oils. 

4.Corn cob grit is a good choice for jobs that require both an abrasive and absorbent counterpart.

   Oils and liquids are absorbed  by the grit while at the same time the surface is being polished, 

   finished, or deburred.

5.Corn cob grit is free flowing and highly absorptive. These characteristics make it a great choice 

   for feed additives and insecticides and fertilizers.

6.Corn cob grit is considered a soft abrasive and has a Mohs hardness rating of 4.5.
