| Lidya Konservecilik San ve Tic Ltd ti is one of the most important production centers in the world for pickled gherkins, best known as 'cornichons' which are more then 60 Cucumbers in one kilogram. The cucumbers which are raised at the Aegean region are ready for harvest in early June, whereas in Central Anatolia, the harvest season begins mid-July and lasts at the end of September. |
| In the Aegean region, providing the weather is suitable, a second harvest can be achieved in September and October. The cucumbers collected from the fields are transported to delivery centers where they are calibrated into three size categories. Upon arrival at the "Lidya" plant, they are calibrated again with high-precision machines according to customer requirements. | |
| Our smallest calibre amounts to 300 cucumbers per kilogram, whereas our largest calibre is 9 or 12 cucumbers per kilogram. After calibration, the cucumbers are immediately processed, preventing them from loosing any of their freshness. Preserving cucumber cubes and stripes in tins according to the requirements of the world-wide food industry is a way of production that "Lidya" has been employing successfully for years in a hygienic environment, with the latest technology. "Lidya" has also become a specialist for cucumber products filled manually into jars. In Turkey, cucumbers will grow all year round, whether in fields or in glasshouses. Taking advantage of the climate, our company has been able to increase its capacity to millions of jars of preserved cucumber sticks/spears. At the same time, "Lidya" offers to its customers, cucumber products such as Cubes, Stripes, Stackers, Crinkle and Normal Cut Rondells by employing Urschel-made machines in all cutting processes. |
