Considerable amounts of calcium, magnesium and potassium are contained in the leaves as are beta carotene, flavonoids, lycopene, polyphenols and Vitamin e.
Dietary research and studies have found that as antioxidants, flavonoids may help reduce cholesterol. Further studies have found that lycopene in the diet lowers the incidence of prostate, stomach and gastrointestinal cancers.
