Fish meal with one or more fish as raw materials, after deoiling, dehydration, crushing processing of high protein feed raw materials. The world's fish meal producers are mainly Peru, Chile, Japan, Denmark, the United States, the former Soviet Union, Norway and so on, among which Peru and Chile account for about 70% of the total trade volume. According to the statistics of the World Food and Agriculture Organization (2013), the annual production of fish meal in China is about 1.2 million tons, accounting for about half of the total domestic consumption of fish meal. The main production places are Shandong Province (accounting for about 50% of the total domestic production of fish meal), while Zhejiang Province accounts for about 25%, followed by Hebei, Tianjin, Fujian, Guangxi and other provinces and cities. At the end of the 20th century, China imported about 700,000 tons of fish meal every year, about 80% of which came from Peru and less than 10% from Chile. In addition, a small amount was also imported from the United States, Japan and Southeast Asian countries. Although fish meal is still an important animal protein added feed, Chinese feed workers have been exploring low fish meal diet and no fish meal diet, and fermented soybean meal is the best substitute product at present.
