The “Consorzio Agrario Provinciale di Grosseto”is a farmers’ cooperative established in 1908 which currently numbers over 2.500 members. Its main aim is to supply services and technical instruments to farms in the Tuscan Maremma and, in particular, the Province of Grosseto. One of its main services is assistance in the commercialisation of agricultural products: mainly durum wheat but also barley, corn, sorghum, oats, rice, and, as from 2005, chestnuts produced in the Monte Amiata area. This last activity has been promoted to aid the development of one of the most typical products of the area. It is a quality product which has been awarded PGI denomination and merits full promotion on the domestic market and abroad.
