Eddoe is a tropical plant grown primarily as a vegetable food for its edible corm, and secondarily as a leaf vegetable. It is related to taro (Dasheen), and to Tannia (Xanthosoma spp.), which are also used as vegetables, but has smaller corms and in all but the best cultivars there is an acrid taste that requires careful cooking.
