The poultry farming industry, which was one of the under-developed industries, has gained growth and is currently one of the principal meat production sectors.Investment and employment levels and the role of this sector in the production of protein requirements of the nation have attained high proportions in the national economy.In 1995 poultry production exceeded 600.000 tons placing Iran sixteenth among 152 countries. Currently more than 18500 poultry production farms are in operation and the overall activities in this industry in 1994 has resulted in the production of 676.000 tons of treated Chicken Meat and 486.000 tons of eggs, providing a valuable supplement to the national animal protein production and especially to the country's economic cycle. At present Iran has the potential of designing and constructing poultry and livestock slaughterhouse units and producing eggs and meat with industrial facilities to manufacture poultry hatcheries and dairy farm milking stations & equipments.Now regarding to high rang of egg producing, Iran has a good potential to export egg and hen meat to other countries.
