Epimedium L. (Berberidaceae) is a group of long-lived perennial plants that have been widely used as medicinal plants in China and East Asia for more than 2,000 years since its first record in Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing , the classical Chinese pharmacopoeia. Its pharmacological effect in enhancing libido and sexual performance, treating some serious and fatal illnesses cardiovascular failure, reducing blood pressure and blood glucose, and boosting anti-inflammation and immunity are well recognized.
