fresh water fish cannot survive in sea water because their bodies are not adapted to the salinity content, fresh water fish have adaptations which allow them to take as much salts and minerals as possible from the sounding water because fresh water has so little salts. in salt water this would be a problem because they would take in much to much salt and would dehydrate. The opposite is true in salt water fish. These adapations are in their organs which regulate salt and water concentrations in the body.
