White or light brown needle crystal or powder. The melting point of 235-240°C (decomposition). Heated to 100-100 °C lose crystal water, heated to above 200 °C when the loss of carbon dioxide and generate coke gallic acid (namely three phenolic benzene). Soluble in hot
water, ethyl ether, ethanol, acetone and glycerin, hardly soluble in cold water, insoluble in benzene and
chloroform.

Uses:
