Glatiramer Acetate is a synthetic drug that does not occur naturally in the body. It contains random polymers of four amino acids: glutamine, lysine, alanine and tyrosine. It’s used as an immuno-modulatory agent, and it’s a non-interferon and non-steroidal medication.
Glatiramer Acetate (GA, also known as Copolymer-1, Copolymer 1, Cop-1 or COPAXONE®) is indicated for reduced frequency of relapses in relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis.
