Global spirits consumption continues a strong growth trend. Between 2005 and 2010 global consumption is expected to rise over 6%.
In 2006 the United States spirits industry surpassed projected growth rates and totaled over 176 million 9-liter cases and about $58 billion dollars in retail sales. Within the spirits market, vodka has the highest share of retail sales at 28%. Cordials/liqueurs and rum hold the number two and three spots with 12.9 and 12.1 percent of consumption respectively. The overall US spirits market is expected to reach almost 200 million 9-liter cases by 2011.
