Gouda cheese is one of the most famous Dutch cheeses. Gouda is traditionally delivered in a wheel shape, but is also available in block form. It is named after the Dutch town Gouda which has a very rich tradition in cheesemaking.
Taste:
Young Gouda cheese tastes mild, creamy and pure. As the Gouda cheese gets older, its taste becomes more strong and pronounced. Dutch Gouda is the only authentical Gouda.
Serving suggestions:
Whether mild or matured, Gouda tastes great in sandwiches or simply as a snack. Aged Gouda has a more pronounced flavour and is therefore perfect for grating and au gratin dishes.
