Dosages for Adult and Children:
The recommended dosages given are for Adults Only. The dosage for children should be calculated in accordance with the child weight with the weight of the average weight of an adult (see example below)
20 kg / 80 kg = ¼ of the adult dose
40 kg / 80 kg = ½ of the adult dose
Drink 2-3 cups of tea per day.
Place 1 teabag in a cup of boiling water. Let stand for 3 minutes, depending on the desired strength.
General Information:
Rooibos is a fynbos species within the Cape Floral Kingdom, one of only six recognized floral kingdoms of the world. The plant is indigenous to the Cedarberg region and is the only place in the world where the plant grows naturally. The plants' name comes from the fine, needle-like leaves that turn red when they are fermented. Rooibos is not a true tea, but an herb.
Rooibos is a good source of antioxidants and is the only known source of a potent antioxidant called aspalathin while also containing others like nothofagin, vitexin, isovitex, orientin, isooreintin, luteolin and quercetin. Rooibos tea is rich in several minerals including iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and sodium, as well as trace elements like copper, manganese and fluoride. Pure and natural it contains no additives or preservatives. It is a naturally calming substance and help to maintain healthy skin, teeth and bones.
Sceletium Tortuosum is a small groundcover plant native to Southern Africa. For hundreds of years the hunter-gatherer tribes of Southern Africa used Sceletium tortuosum as a mood enhancer and sedative. The herbs is also widely known as Kanna, Canna or Kauwgoed, Kougoed and Ganna.
Sceletium tortuosum contains nine known alkaloids including mesembrine, mesembrenone, mesembrenol and tortuosamine. Mesembrine is known for its central nervous system effects and appears to be a potent serotonin uptake inhibitor which allows for the effective use for anxiety and problems of depression.
