Grapefruit is commercially grown in the United States, Israel and South Africa. Most of the canned product has traditionally come from Israel, although South Africa and Mexico are becoming suppliers to the U.S.A. market. Mexico is packing a different production style while South Africa has a 14.75 oz. tin when the market calls for a 15 oz. tall tin. Israel continues to hold the dominant market share. The majority of canned grapefruit is the white segments in light syrup. However there is a growing market in ruby red segments.
