 SATSUMA

 

Okitsu Satsuma variety of groups in Turkey in recent years and has started to grow especially in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Fruits are quite large and flat. It is seedless, easily peeled and a sugary type of mandarin. It is a durable type and it is 3-5 weeks earlier than Owar. Satsuma Owari grown in Turkey belongs to many groups.

 

 

 

The main varieties of mandarin production in Turkey is most commonly made for export. It is produced especially in the Aegean region. The peel is yellow-orange in color and slightly rough during the harvest period; its thickness is 3.37 mm. After the ripening period, it becomes easier to separate the shell from the meat. Fruits are flattened, small to medium size and considered seedless. Flesh is dark orange in color. It is a variety with high taste, odor and quality. In the maturity period, the juice content is 43.90%. It is suitable for storage and transportation. Market launch period: from mid-October to the end of December.
