Honey is a sweet fluid produced by honey bees, and derived from the nectar of flowers.
The Lunigiana zone is an ideal environment for
beekeeping due to its largely natural state and extremely limited
industrial development. Honey from Lunigiana dop is limited to only two
types of honey: from acacia or chestnut flowers.
The Lunigiana zone is almost completely devoid of pollutants, and this factor combined with a favourable succession of flowering and a presence of precious plant essences permits the production of honey having special qualitative characteristics. Its purity of aromas and conformation to standards of flavour are characteristics which, over time, have not changed and render honey from Lunigiana a unique product.
