Melon is a Fresh Fruit with the scientific name; (Cucumis melo Inodorus), originally from southern France and Algeria, other name is: "Honeydew" is in fact the American name for the White Antibes, Iran is the biggest producer of Watermelons in Asia

3. Kinds of Melon
Melon or Honeydew has a round to slightly oval shape; it generally ranges in weight, the flesh is pale green in color, while the smooth peel ranges from greenish to yellow. Like most fruit, honeydew has seeds. This fruit grows best in semiarid climates and is harvested based on maturity, not size. Maturity can be hard to judge, but is based upon ground color ranging from greenish white (immature) to creamy yellow; Quality is also determined by the honeydew having a nearly spherical shape with a surface free of scars or defects. Also, honeydew should feel heavy for its size and have a waxy (not fuzzy) surface.

Total production of melons for the year 2008 was over 3329449 MT, and the total surface on the farms was estimated to be 146686 hectares, the average of product per hectare was estimated at 22600kg, and the average exporting of Melons overseas was estimated around 1605000 MT.
