** About Okayama Dried Persimmons **
Yakage town, which is located in western Okayama, is known as one of the
best grown area for dried persimmons. The town has less fog and enough
hours of sunshine that are necessary needs for dried persimmons of good
quality.
There all persimmons are peeled by hands of family members, not by
machines for mass production. People come to this town to take photos of
dried persimmons hung in front of farmhouses in winter. It is as if the
farmhouses were covered with the color of orange.
