Varieties

The popular varieties grown in Punjab include Oranges, Red Blood, Mausami, Ruby Red, Jaffa, Fruiter, Malta, limes and lemons. Approximately about 60 per cent of total citrus production is comprised of mandarin being popularly known as 'Kinnow'. Quality wise, 'Kinnow' is the most important variety. It is relished both domestically and internationally for its flavor. It is golden in color and has a thin loose skin. This variety has been obtained through the cross-breeding of two other varieties 'King' and 'Will Leaf'.

Processing Cycle

                        Processing of Oranges with special American & European Chemicals which includes Harvesting, Sorting, Sweet & Treated Water Washing, Drying, Waxing, Grading by automatic sizes machines, Packing, Pre – Cooling are the most common processes which are being practiced at Ayan Citrus (Pvt.) Limited under stringent hygienic conditions ensuring international food safety measure.

We select only PRIME quality Oranges and the rest of Oranges which are small in size and not up to the standard of export is send to the juice extracting factory and local market.

Shelf Life / Export
After processing Kinnow can survive from 60 to 70 days and shipped in refrigerated (temperature controlled) containers.

The fruit is graded in each carton according to the variety, size, (giving a range of counts for each package). The fruit is packed in II, III layer in fully

Telescopic styled cartons. Adequate ventilators are provided in each carton for the safety of fruit.

Pre-Cooling

All the filled cartons are PRE Cooled at control atmosphere in German cool rooms before loading to the Refer Containers, which are set at 4 to 5.
