The kiwano (or "horned cucumber") is a fruit notable for the small, spiny "horns" that dot its bright orange and yellow skin.
The KIWANO fruit has a bright golden-orange prickly skin. The small spines are what give the definition to the nickname "barbed melon".
The pulp of a ripe KIWANO fruit has a gelatine texture. The seed casing contains a large amount of seeds which are lime green in colour and edible if so desired. Its pleasant and refreshing odour suggests a combination flavour of banana, musk melon and lime, therefore offering something new and totally exotic.
Due to its contents and makeup, which is rich in minerals, carbohydrates and vitamins, this melon is also known as the Golden orange.
