Lac color is extracted from resinous secretion of Laccifer lacca by mildly alkaline water, mainly consist of laccaic acids. It presents different color at different pH.
Lac color is soluble in alcohol and propanediol, slightly soluble in water .Shade is changed with pH levels, orange-red among pH3-5, red or purple-red among pH5-7, purple-red in alkaline aqueous solution. It is stable to light and heat in acid condition.
