The Lucuma is a fruit native to the Andean valleys of Peru, Ecuador and Chile. It was a staple food in the Pre-Hispanic diet and its images on textiles and pottery suggest it was a sacred fruit even in Pre-Inca times.
It has a strong flavor and unique aroma, and firm Orange colored flesh. The Lucuma is highly nutritious and is an ideal flavoring for ice-creams, milkshakes and many other desserts.
Lucuma powder is made from carefully selected Lucuma harvested at their optimum point of ripeness, in order to process them at their best and capture the full flavour and colour, so characteristic of the fruit. During the processing, the pulp of the Lucuma is dehydrated and pulverized in such a way that all the unique characteristics of this exquisite fruit are preserved in the Lucuma flour.
