From her busy adobe cradled in the olden village of Naxxar, Madlien began producing wines and spirits in the 1930's. Her speciality was a liqueur made from local aromatic plants and herbs which included cumin and anise. A vigorous woman in all her activities and very hardworking. Madlien represented her islands golden warmth and sunny cheer with debonair. Villagers, vistors, and everybody in her vicinity loved Madlien. Today her great grandchildren pay homage to Madlien by making available one of her vibrant recipes for you, to toast any ocassion on cold winter nights and celebrate summer feasts as in days of old.
