Finns drink milk at an almost world-record rate: some 136 litres per person per year (2005). And why not! Finnish milk is after all of excellent quality and available fresh every day.
Milk is a pure food. It contains no additives or preservatives. Its fat content is adjusted to the appropriate level (standardised) at the dairy and the milk is heat-treated (pasteurisation or UHT), and homogenised to prevent fat from rising to the top of the product. vitamin D is added to help increase consumers' recommended daily intake as described by the Finnish National Nutrition Council.
