Morellino di Scansano is the most typical wine of the Tuscan Maremma (a south area, mostly surrounding Grosseto and lying by the sea). The wine is cultivated on well-placed and fertile hills whose position means it even takes some of its flavour from the sea. There is a long tradition of wine-making in the area. Both Etruscans more than 2000 years ago and the Spanish in the 15 th Century grew wine on this land. The Spanish introduced the cultivation of Alicante whose grapes complete the traditional Tuscany one, the Sangiovese, called in that area Morellino from the kind of the horses “Morelli” mostly present in the zone, and giving to the wine its great quality.
From the heart of Tuscany, Sorelli produces the wines of the tuscan tradition with the and authenticity of a family that from the early 1900s is passionately dedicated to wine. The close ties with family farmers and local producers have allowed to become one of the major Chianti producers and an established presence in the Italian and international wine scene.
