Culinary uses : Mustard is an indispensableingredient in cooking. Yellow mustard seeds are used primarily as apickling and preserving spice, and in marinades. Black and brownmustard seeds are used in India in curry powders and in spiced ghee(baghar or tadka). Ground yellow mustard powder is used in saladdressing and mayonnaise, where it helps the emulsification of the eggyolk and oil.
Other uses : Mustard is astimulant and it is used to relieve respiratory complaints andrheumatism. Mustard also used to be given as a laxative and emetic.
