What is Sesame Extract?

Suntory, in collaboration with Ochanomizu University, has confirmed a unique property of sesamin. Sesamin is a kind of lignan compound which is contained only in sesame seeds. Suntory, Ochanomizu University Jointly Confirm That Sesamin Helps Lower Blood Sugar Level, reporting by JCN, Tokyo, June 29, 2006. In experiments using obese rats, the two partners confirmed that sesamin substantially lowers the level of blood sugar. Details of the joint research were presented at the 14th Meeting of the International Atherosclerosis Society, held in Italy from June 19 to 22, under the title of "Sesamin reduced blood glucose concentrations in Zucker fatty rats".
